Over the course of six months, Zach Both and Nicole Lopez built a contemporary-styled yurt 20 minutes outside of Portland, OR. The exterior structure was constructed in a single weekend with the help of friends and family. As working professionals, the yurt serves as a functional home. Nicole uses the space as a relaxing respite from her job at a nearby hospital, while Zachāwho previously traveled the country in a converted campervanāutilizes the yurt as a home oice for his filmmaking and writing. āItās been incredible to adapt a structure with a history that stretches back thousands of years,ā said Zach Both. āIt was our attempt at building a modern yurt for the 21st century.ā
